PIZZA SANDWICH

Cookin with cheese is like making love for da first tym….u  start slow…..be gentle as possible….try not to rush….coz excessive heat will kill da  passion n ruin it for u….but if done da ryt way…da patience has its rewards….

PIZZA SANDWICH

INGREDIENTS

4             Bread Slices( I choose white bread but u can choose any bread u like brown , multigrain....)
               capsicum
               mushrooms
               baby corn
               jalapenos
               black olives
A block of really good mozzarella cheese

Pizza sauce

2                     tomatoes
1inch               ginger
2cloves           garlic
2 large            onions
1 tsp               salt
1tsp                garam masala (sounds odd!!! Well trust me on dis….u will love it…)
2tbsp              oregano
4tbsp              tomato ketchup
Pinch of sugar

INSTRUCTIONS

  1.           We start with chopping the onions, tomatoes (not too fine as they will go in the blender).
  2.            Peel the garlic and chop the ginger. Throw the above ingredients in the blender and whisk away..
  3.      Take a medium saucepan. Place on medium heat. Add 2 tbsp of oil. Add the onion tomato paste.
  4.      Add 1 tsp of garam masala n stir. Let the mixture cook for about 5 mins
  5.       Stir occasionally. Add tomato ketchup and let it cook for another 10 mins
  6.       Remove from the heat and let it cool.
Preparing the sandwich
  1.                 We start off by buttering the slices of bread. Butter both the sides of the bread evenly.
  2.        Smear the pizza sauce on one side of each slice
  3.        Top it with chopped onions, capsicum, baby corn, mushrooms, jalapenos, black olives( take your      pick ).
  4.        Add a very…very…very generous amount of grated mozzarella cheese.
  5.        Place the buttered slice on top

Now you have several option to cook this. Either u can toast it in a sandwich maker or use the oven. I, however, use a non stick frying pan for this. My method is quite peculiar but I promise its sure fun.

  1.             Place the nonstick frying pan on a low heat. (Remember always low or else your bread will brown but the cheese won’t melt.
  2.       Put your sandwich in the centre. Now in order to seal the sandwich you need to apply pressure from the top. So this is what I did. My mom keep a small block of marble in the kitchen to pound spices. I covered dat block with silver foil and place it on the sandwich.
  3.    Make sure to cover the lid.
  4.        After 2 mins turns sides and let it cook for another 2 mins. Or lets just say crisp the bread as per your liking.
  5.      Cut the sandwich in halves. Serve with chips, fries, dips or just plain ketchup….  anything you like. .....bon appetit.......
